REC sponsored Tanishka Kotia wins WFM Title
REC sponsored Tanishka Kotia under its CSR activities won WFM (Women FIDE Master) in 14th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championship held at Thailand from 5th June 2013 to 13th June 2013 after giving unbeatable performance at the tournament.
Tanishka won the championship almost 2 rounds before by continuously winning 7 rounds of the total 9 rounds. In all rounds she scored 8 points out of possible 9 points. Tanishka gave such a tough competition that she left her nearest competitor behind by 1.5 points.
In the Championship there were 426 top players from 14 countries viz. Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taipei, Vietnam and Russia participated under various categories.
Earlier Tanishka Kotia at the age of 3 years 11 months
was recorded as Youngest Chess Player by Limca Book of world Records 2008. Subsequently she again made a history by getting International Rating at an early age of 6 years, the age when the World Champion Vishy Anand started learning Chess.
The 9 years old Tanishka Kotia, a class 5 student of DPS-45 Gurgaon now become WFM Tanishka Kotia and is the only Title holder girl in HaryanaState as well as NCR. Tanishka thanks her sponsor Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd for providing the support.
